From Athlone

take the N61 to Roscommon, following brown tourist signs to Hodsons Bay Hotel. Pass the turn for the hotel and after 2.8 miles you will see a right turn signed to Carna and Lough Ree at the brow of a hill, with a two storey house on the corner. Turn down that road, over a level crossing and continue on that road past army ranges over a cossroads with a thatched cottage until you see the lake coming into view on your right as you descend a hill.(3 miles) Pass Canine Creche on your left and as you get to the bottom of the hill where the road bends sharply to the left you will see a green gate ahead with a heritage sign for Rindoon Castle and St Johns Wood. Come through the gate and the house in on the left.

From Roscommon

Take the N61 for Athlone. when you see the sign for Lecarow, take the left turn behind Coffeys bar (a bright red building) and continue straight on for about 2 miles. You will pass the local primary school on the left after about 1/2 a mile. You will see the Lough on your right as you start to come down a hill. at the bottom there is a sharp right hand bend. Turn half left and you will see a green gate with a tourist board sign for Rindoon Castle and St johns Wood. Go through the gate and the house is on your left.
