Walking

A national looped walk of about 4kms, sponsored by Failte Ireland, has recently been opened around the shores of Rinn Duin Peninsula - starts from just outside the house.

There are two loops; the longer one includes Rinn Duin Wood which is magnificent in May with its carpet of bluebells. The walk passes by all the historic sites of Rinn Duin, each of which has an information board. It is a most beautiful and historic walk.

For those interested in habitat and birdlife the shore has many species, including occasional egrets, whimbrels and merlins. Ravens, herons and many species of duck are common. Over 40 species of bird have been seen in one day. Rinn Duin Wood, an SAC site, has lesser spotted orchids and hybrid oxlips.

Our donkeys will probably come to investigate you and are very tame.

The Suck Valley walk, of over 85km in length is about 15 minutes drive away.
