What to do
St Johns House is ideal for people who enjoy the outdoors and exploring Ireland.

Fishing:
For trout, perch and pike in season. May and September are the best for trout. Boat hire is available from nearby Gailey Bay and there is a public slipway for launching boats close by.

Golf:
There are 8 championship golf courses within 40 minutes drive, with Athone, Roscommon and Glasson under half an hour.

Cycling:
The Tain trail and Green Heartlands cycle routes pass close to the property.

Rindoon Castle:
The castle and the medieval St Johns Wood are a short walk from the house. Athlone Castle, Roscommon Castle, Goldsmith country, Strokestown House and Famine Museum and the monastic site of Clonmacnoise are all within a short drive.

Birdwatching:
Particularly good in winter and spring when migratory birds pass through. Swans nest on the island in front of the house and coots, moorhens and herons frequent the reed beds.
